The Magic of Coffee Roasting

Ever wondered how those green coffee beans transform into the aromatic brown beans you know and love? Let us take you behind the scenes of our roasting process, where art meets science to create the perfect cup.



The Journey Begins: Preparing the Beans


Before any roasting begins, we carefully prepare each batch of beans. Every bag of raw, green coffee beans goes through a meticulous sorting process. Think of it as quality control – we want only the best beans making it to your cup!



The Dance of Heat and Time


Here's where the real magic happens. Our master roasters orchestrate a delicate dance of time and temperature, typically working their magic at around 190-200°C. For 18-20 minutes, we watch as the beans transform through a fascinating process:


  1. First, the beans are shy - they absorb heat quietly

  2. But at around 175°C, something amazing happens - the beans become little powerhouses, actually generating their own heat!

  3. This is when our roasters' expertise really shines, as they carefully adjust the heat to guide the beans to their perfect roast level



The Cool-Down: Timing is Everything


Just like baking the perfect cake, timing the cool-down is crucial. As soon as the beans reach their ideal roast, we quickly cool them with forced air. This stops the roasting process at exactly the right moment to capture the flavours we're after.



One Last Check: The Clean-Up Crew


Before these beauties make their way to your cup, we have one final quality check. Our beans take a trip through a clever device called a de-stoner (yes, that's really its name!). This machine catches any unwanted surprises like small stones or metal bits that might have hitched a ride from the coffee farms. It's like a final security checkpoint, ensuring your coffee grinder stays safe and your beans remain pure.



From Our Roaster to Your Cup


Finally, we carefully weigh and pack the beans in heat-sealed bags to preserve their freshness. Each bag is a testament to the care and expertise that goes into every step of our roasting process.
